how does it work?

Ivivi's SofPulse™ uses its patented, non-invasive, non-pharmacologic, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) technology to induce a micro-current in injured tissues. These micro-currents enhance the normal electrochemical processes of the body. If you think of all the complex biochemistry as traffic in a city, then the electrochemistry is the infrastructure, the roads, bridges, traffic lights, all the things that support traffic. The better, more coordinated the infrastructure, the more efficient the activity.
This technology targets very basic activity in cells, activity that is so fundamental to life that it is found in every cell in every living thing. As described above, Ivivi Technologies is creating greater efficiency in this basic process, one on which many other life supporting cellular processes depend. what does the device look like?

The currently marketed technology consists of a power supply and an applicator. The applicators can take several forms, from the older (but effective) 3 pound "pancake" applicator to lightweight coils.

is it simple to use?
|
The SofPulse is so easy to use and apply. The PEMF field works through clothing, dressings or even casts. The applicator head is swung over the affected area, lightly resting against the affected area. The applicator doesn't need to touch the patient directly. A button is pushed and treatment begins, lasting 30 minutes. Treatments are generally given twice or three times a day, as indicated by the health care professional.

how safe is ivivi's technology?

Ivivi's patented technology is extremely safe. There are no side effects and no chance of overdose or negative interactions with other treatments. In over 600,000 treatments, there have been no adverse events.

does the treatment affect healthy tissue?
|
It doesn't. The technology is designed in such a way that only injured or otherwise damaged tissues respond. Healthy tissue is not affected in any way.

can it work for everybody?
|
Except in extreme cases, the basic electrochemical effects of the technology will benefit appropriate patients. As with all therapies, when using the therapy as indicated, compliance is a significant factor in determining outcomes.

how long has this technology been in use?

Ivivi was formed in 2004 to provide innovative solutions in electrotherapeutics. The SofPulse was in use in an earlier period, when the therapy was last covered by insurers, until 1997. The pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) technology has a longer history of use - since the 1930s.

what does the future hold?

Ivivi Technologies is dedicated to creating a whole field of therapeutics around non-invasive, non-pharmacologic electrotherapies. We see this as the advent of a new kind of medicine, what anesthesia did for surgery or antibiotics for infections. In the near future, Ivivi technologies hopes to have a suite of products able to more optimally treat a number of conditions as well as better integrated technologies, built right into existing products that are already being used in facilities around the world. Ivivi will be the pre-eminent brand in this field for many years to come.
